Welcome to the tutorials section of my website. In here, you will find my lightsaber tutorial, and in the future, I plan to add more.
What you find in here in the result of two years work, on and off.
The original tutorial, came about after watching a video tutorial on how to rotoscope lightsabers in Adobe Photoshop. I had a go, and succeeded.
Since, Adobe Photoshop is commonly used in the Fan Film community, I wondered if this method could be applied to Corel Paint Shop Pro. After a lot of trial and error, and, of course asking a lot of questions, I eventually worked out how to do it.
The tutorial you see in the following pages is the end result of this.
The original version of the tutorial can be found here, but the version on my site, is the most current.
Since version 8 of Paint Shop Pro, parts of this tutorial can be automated, through scripting facility built into Paint Shop Pro.
I have recently tested to see if the tutorial works in the most recent version of Paint Shop Pro version 10, and it does.
This tutorial came about, because I wasn't happy with the way end of lightsaber looked, so after looking around some of the options for hte line draw tool, I found a way round it, and wrote the tutorial.
This tutorial has gone through several rewrites since the original.
The original version of this tutorial had you drawing 7 lines to cover up the gap, and while the end result was the same, it just seemed to much. It was only through testing a later version of Paint Shop Pro, did I find a way round the problem.
I even had a go at rotoscoping a clip, which I'll post a link to when I find it.
