Welcome to the Fan Effect tutorial.

Once you have your image loaded, the first thing you need to check, is that the Styles and Texture boxes are set as they are below.

This is the Image I'll be using

Draw your first line on the outside of the fan like below

Draw a second line across the top, without letting the white line appear, this is important, I couldn't represent this with a picture. So this end result should look like below.

Draw a third line down the other side, to meet with your first point, and it should look like below.

If you look in the Layers Palette, it should look similar to below.

I know, looking at this, it doesn't look like you've drawn three lines, but believe me, it has.
